Our founder
Hi, I'm Haley
My connection with seniors started long before Little Ray of Sunshine was ever an idea.
My mom was a registered nurse who worked in senior living, but her work was so much more than a career to her. She was a true advocate for seniors and genuinely loved and adored the people she cared for. Growing up, I had the privilege of seeing that love firsthand.
She would often bring me along to spend time with the residents and help brighten their days. Some of my favorite childhood memories come from those experiences. Helping with events, setting up for the holidays, playing Halloween games, singing, talking, laughing, and simply spending quality time with them.
From a very young age, I learned how meaningful the simplest moments of connection can be. A conversation, holding someone’s hand, listening to a story, sharing a laugh, or simply taking the time to sit with someone could make their day a little brighter.
Those experiences taught me something I’ve carried with me ever since. Everyone deserves to feel seen, valued, and cared about, no matter their age.
My mom passed away in 2014, but the compassion she showed and the love she had for older adults never left me. In so many ways, the heart behind Little Ray of Sunshine began with her.
Years later, I found myself back in the senior community, this time working as an Activity Director in a memory care facility, and it became one of my favorite jobs I’ve ever had. I loved creating experiences for residents to look forward to, getting to know their personalities, making them smile, and finding meaningful ways to connect with individuals living with memory loss.
I also have previous EMT experience, which gave me an even greater appreciation for compassion, patience, and helping people feel comfortable during vulnerable moments.
Eventually, all of those pieces of my life came together to inspire Little Ray of Sunshine.
I wanted to create something that goes beyond simply cleaning a home. A clean, comfortable space is an important part of what I provide, but I believe caring for someone’s home and caring about the person who lives there can go hand in hand.
Sometimes being a little ray of sunshine means making a home feel fresh and comfortable again. Other times, it might mean putting up holiday decorations, helping with a small errand, sharing a conversation, listening to a favorite story, or simply bringing some extra warmth and companionship into someone’s day.
Just as importantly, I want to give families peace of mind knowing there is another caring and dependable person looking out for someone they love.
Little Ray of Sunshine is my way of carrying forward something my mom gave me as a little girl. The belief that our older generations deserve to be treasured, respected, cared for, and reminded that they still have so much value in this world.
Because everyone deserves a little joy, a little connection, and a little ray of sunshine.
